The purpose of this program is to present the most current established and emerging technologies. The faculty is composed of experts in the field who will discuss the strengths and limitations of these new advancements.



Upon completion of this course the participant should be able to:
  1. Analyze the clinical workup and imaging process during emergent care situations and the role of diagnostic ultrasound therein.
  2. The reliable evaluation of patients with conditions and diseases of the aorta is critical to more rapid treatment and improved patient outcomes.
  3. Examine new lab accreditation standards and how this impacts a lab and its daily operations.
  4. Illustrate the new transcatheter Mitral valve treatment techniques and our role in treatment as it relates to echocardiography.
  5. Analyze the use causes of workplace injury as it relates to Echocardiography and learn how to avoid them.
  6. Examine and build your knowledge of pediatric congenital heart disease.
  7. Compare the different types of LAA closure devices, their functions/ limitations and how Echocardiography is used to evaluate and care for the patient population that utilizes this form of treatment.
  8. Interpret the disease process that requires ECMO treatment as well as the treatment itself to provide a greater understanding and improve diagnostic techniques.
  9. Examine and build your knowledge of adult congenital heart disease, and how these older patients differ from pediatric congenital heart disease patients.
  10. The reliable evaluation of patients requiring mechanical circulatory support will lead to more rapid treatment and improved patient outcomes.

REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY

A full refund of registration fees, less a $15 administrative fee, will be available if requested in writing and received by February 20, 2018. No refunds will be made after that date. A $30 fee also will be charged for returned checks. (Please note that if you fail to cancel by the deadline and do not attend, you are still responsible for payment.) KU Medical Center Continuing Education reserves the right to cancel the course and return all fees in the event of insufficient registration. The liability of the University of Kansas Medical Center is limited to the registration fee. The University of Kansas Medical Center will not be responsible for any losses incurred by registrants, including but not limited to airline cancellation charges or hotel deposits.

All participants are required to sign attendance rosters at the beginning of each day. A certificate of completion will be provided to all activity participants based on completion of the program evaluation, documentation of actual attendance time, meeting minimum attendance requirements specific to the activity, and payment in full. If you are not paid in full, a link to complete evaluation and get your certificate will be emailed to you upon receipt of payment.

The University Of Kansas Medical Center Office Of Continuing Medical Education is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

This Symposium is approved for 10 total credits by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDME). SDMS CME credits are accepted by the following registries: ARDMS, ARRT, CCI, and Sonography Canada.
