This one day conference will focus on building your expertise to provide simulation using best practices to enhance healthcare education and improve patient safety outcomes.

Our guest speakers are members of SimUAB® (The University of Alabama at Birmingham). Their team approach will cover all aspects of simulation curriculum design, pre-briefing, simulation techniques, debriefing and technical applications. Multiple workshop opportunities will provide the participant with individual focused experience.

SimUAB® is an internationally accredited simulation program whose team provides simulation experiences spanning the health schools and health system at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. SimUAB® represents the collective output of the UAB Office of Interprofessional Simulation for Innovative Clinical Practice in faculty development, simulation design, and program implementation materials and methods.

As a result of attending this activity, participants will be able to:
  1. Design a comprehensive approach to simulation training using new models, tools and techniques.
  2. Integrate the roles of simulation experts to create a synergistic simulation team.
  3. Demonstrate how the debriefing process can enhance learner performance.
  4. Identify ways technology can create realistic and innovative simulation experiences.
  5. Assess the impact of simulation training and learning to improve patient care outcomes. (evaluate is also a fine word ?)
