Course Registration

This course is a proactive effort to build a collaborative response to the Opioid Epidemic in order to prevent the escalation of this epidemic in Kansas.  Speakers in each session will discuss strategies regarding how to address the epidemic through the different lenses of Prescribing, Prevention, Treatment & Recover, and Intervention.  Attendees will have the opportunity to share insight for State planning and developing, a path forward for Kansas through roundtable discussions.

Upon completion of this course the participant should be able to:
  1. Explain the impact of the prescription drug and opioid epidemic in the state of Kansas;
  2. Explain the risk and protective factors associated with the epidemic
  3. Describe comprehensive strategies for pain management;
  4. Identify the effects of opioids on the brain and body;
  5. Discuss evidence-based strategies for prescription drug and opioid misuse prevention and treatment, including best-practices for opioid prescribing
  6. Discuss and evaluate input for current state planning and efforts that are occurring
  7. Develop a vision for the future of state planning to address the epidemic
