The purpose of this symposium is to update medical practitioners in the greater Midwest region on the current practices, emerging technologies, and medical advances related to heart device therapy in treating heart failure and structural heart disease. This conference will provide a forum for participants to engage in discussion, debate, and examination regarding the efficacy and applicability of these current practices, emerging technologies, and medical advances.




At the completion of this conference, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the latest advances in mechanical circulatory support.
  2. Discuss the most recent recommendations for patients appropriate for TAVR vs SAVR procedures.
  3. Discuss MitraClip for treating MR and recommendations for which patients are appropriate for MitraClip vs open surgical MV repair.
  4. Discuss the clinical effectiveness and cost effectiveness of CardioMEMS relative to standard HF management.
  5. Describe key strategies for building and maintaining successful heart device programs.

REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY

A full refund of registration fees, less a $15 administrative fee, will be available if requested in writing and received by Sept. 10, 2017. No refunds will be made after that date. A $30 fee also will be charged for returned checks. (Please note that if you fail to cancel by the deadline and do not attend, you are still responsible for payment.) KU Medical Center Continuing Education reserves the right to cancel the course and return all fees in the event of insufficient registration. The liability of the University of Kansas Medical Center is limited to the registration fee. The University of Kansas Medical Center will not be responsible for any losses incurred by registrants, including but not limited to airline cancellation charges or hotel deposits.
